SG70 type

Structural Ceramic Sheet

Description

SG70 ceramic sheets are reinforced with continuous fibres to increase the toughness, structural reliability and overall performance of the ceramic composite. They do not contain asbestos or RCF (Refractory Ceramic Fibre as defined in CHIP98 regulations Index 650-017-00-8) materials. Supplied in sheets, boards, cylinders and other geometric shapes, and in two densities, SG70 products exhibit non-brittle behaviour and can withstand extreme thermal shock and cycling within their specified temperature ranges. Chemically inert, unaffected by moisture and non-wetting to non--ferrous metals, SG70 is machinable with standard tools. Thermally and electrically insulating, SG70 is an excellent material choice for a variety of structural applications. It is widely used as a replacement for dense asbestos products, silica/mica/phosphate based materials, vacuum formed fibreboard, monolithic ceramics and reinforced plastics where superior structural performance is required. All grades have a maximum service temperature limit of 1260°C and can be used in structural applications up to 745°C or 815°C depending on density.

The two grades are SG70-130 with 2000kg/m3 density and SG70-95, 1510kg/m3.
