GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Top loading electric crucible furnace - 1200°C max temperature

This furnace is designed for use by the small foundry operator for metal or glass applications. It is a low cost simple unit which will work from a normal domestic electricity socket.

The furnace case is of steel and finished in a hammer blue hard wearing paint. There is a double skin construction to keep the outside case at a safe temperature. The refractory insulation is of ceramic fibre and provides good insulation with low thermal mass and low weight.

Heating is provided by a coiled wire element set in a cast refractory inner liner. Furnace control is simple comprising an on/off switch with warning light and a PID temperature controller with digital read-out. A type K thermocouple is set close to the side wall for accurate sensing and thermocouple break protection is fitted.

The unit has rubber feet and can be used as bench or floor mounted. Power switching to the elements is by a contactor and an earth leakage circuit breaker is fitted for operator safety.

Electrical rating is 3 kW at 230V 50Hz 1ph.
External dimensions are 610mm deep x 750mm wide x 560mm high plus 150mm for the lid.
Internal dimensions are 230mm dia x 300mm deep. This will allow crucibles up to A12 size to be used. (171/121 dia x 210mm high - 17kg brass or 5.5kg aluminium )

Optional extras are:
1) Over temperature protection - a) thermal fuse, b) adjustable analogue, c) adjustable digital
2) Counter-balanced door with safety switch
3) Thyristor power switching.
